Catholic Church refuse Baptism for gays

More from the Catholic Church on same-sex marriage and gay families. Cardinal Ouellet says ...

"If I take the example of the ceremony of baptism, according to our canon law, we cannot accept the signatures of two fathers or two mothers as parents of an infant," Cardinal Ouellet told the committee. "With a law that makes these unions official, situations of this will multiply and this threatens to disturb not just the use of our territory, but also our archives and other
aspects of the life of our communities."

Your comment is exactly the point. Infant baptism is predicated on the promise of the parents that the child will be raised in the Catholic faith.

A same-sex couple has already indicated, by virtue of their living arrangements, that they are not prepared to do that.

  3. I agree, I would not weant to take my child into the church, still many do. Check out the link in the sidebar to the story The Pope and Cliff.

The church needs to move forward!

I respectfully disagree, Rick. The Church needs to be loyal to Scripture and Tradition, the two wellsprings of the Faith. That is where we Catholics find the truth.

  5. Hi John,

I know many Catholics that support same-sex marriage and gay rights. These people also believe women should be brought into leadership or the priesthood.

As a gay man I know who I am right down to the core and when someone says I am "wrong" or must "abstain" from relationships with other men, they don't understand.

"I am what I am," as the song goes. It is impossible to change that. Can you accept that I and other gays and lesbians have this reality?
