Christians/Bush promote Don't Ask, Don't Tell STD prevention

Day of Purity

Days after major study shows abstinence-only programs failing, Christian conservatives launch rebranded abstinence-only program for year 2.

The Day of Purity website says, "The Day of Purity is a day when this nation's youth can make a public demonstration of their commitment to remain sexually pure, in mind and actions."

This come on the heels of a report earlier this week, a Texas Department of Health study found abstinence-only programs failing. In some cases the programs don't even mention sex, and in all cases, the discussion of birth control is forbidden.

The author of the study conducted by researchers at Texas A&M University concludes, "These (abstinence-only)programs seem to be much more concerned about politics than kids, and we need to get over that," he said.

President Bush will spend nearly $900 million over five years for abstinence-only programs in what has become one of the most expensive efforts of indoctrination and social engineering to take place in the western world outside of war efforts.

Another report made public last December found, "subjective conclusions or outright falsehoods regarding reproductive health, gender traits and when life begins. In some cases, Waxman said in an interview, the factual issues were limited to occasional misinterpretations of publicly available data; in others, the materials pervasively presented subjective opinions as scientific fact."

Teenagers who are taught abstinence-only are ill-equipped to protect themselves if they should become sexually active. The CDC data shows 61 per-cent of high school seniors have had sex. The students receiving abstinence-only education face greater risk given the lack of information and misinformation taught in these programs.

All the data in public health points to giving youth information to make their own informed decisions. The failure to provide the information can lead to ruining the lives of our youth. The Day of Purity are just the latest effort of a political agenda that has been advanced very successfully by the right wing and evangelical Christians bent on turning America into the Kingdom of their God.

The Day of Purity and Don't Ask, Don't Tell STD programs are bad news for all children, worse for gays. The programs focuses on heterosexual behaviour and are sponsored by organisations that vigourously fight gay rights and programs supportive of gay youth.

There are a few countries in the world that use these kinds of methods to control populations. To name a few, Iran, North Korea, China and Saudi Arabia.
Jim Prentice, MP for Calgary Centre North issued a statement yesterday on his decision to support same-sex marriage;

Jim Prentice and partner - Prentice at forum in Calgary on same-sex marriage, Jan 15, 2005

"In the final analysis, I have concluded that religious marriage is the authority of the church and that jurisdiction must be jealously guarded. But civil marriage, or governmental marriage, of two Canadians, must be available equally to all.

Therefore, I will be voting in favour of this legislation and I will support Conservative Party amendments designed to protect religious Freedoms. "

I Don't not for Marriages in Newfoundland and Labrador

10% of marriage Commisioners quit in Newfoundland

Yes, CBC reports that one in ten marraige commisioners can't get by same-sex marriage. The provincial government said "I don'ts are not for marriages, every marriage needs three I do's!

See the CBC report here.

From CBC;

Diz Dichmont, a retired commissioner in Carbonear, was one of those who resigned.

"But I don't see why there couldn't be two sets of commissioners," she says. "One who'll do same sex, one who won't, and then people can then choose which they want."
Provincial Justice Minister Tom Marshall says the government's policy is clear: if a marriage commissioner will not officiate at a same-sex ceremony if asked, he or she must resign.

Dobson bites off too much pineapple

Much is being made of Dobson's effort to square the circle of SpongeBob and a pro gay agenda.

Dobson makes a statement that eventually upstages his puppet, George Bush's return for a second term, then says we all got it wrong. Dobson got the publicity he wanted, has created another evil doer in SpongeBob all at the same time maintaining he wasn't or hasn't done so.

The effect, many parents in his sphere of influence will not have SpongeBob to entertain their children, as it will remind them of all of yucky gay sex. Yes that is what it is about, they don't have a legitimate case against gays on the rights issue, so they create a smokescreen. These people are obsessed with sex. One imagines they repent after having had sex with their wives because they enjoyed it!

Check out this column from MSNBC - Dobson has placed this columnist squarely in his sites, fires the proverbial gun and guess what, he misses!

Abstinence-only sex education programs.

Are these Abstinence-only programs really sex-ed or Christian recruitment programs.

George Bush and his cohorts are creating an unsafe world for our young people. They have invaded public health with Christian faith based programming, programs that have been proven ineffective the world over. See the results of the most recent study reported by yahoo news.

How many young people will contract HIV, hepatitis B, or other STD that will go untreated because the youth is too scared to go to a doctor or clinic.

How may won't even know they have an STD?

How many are told that homosexuality is a sin?

God Bless America and Iran.
