Could this be a glimpse of the future as Stephen Harper and Michael Ignatieff lock hands in an effort to win the hearts of Canadians. Racing toward the election some day real soon, they just can't get away from each other! Then Canadians catch up to them.
Maybe I am just daydreaming...
On the eve of Obama's inauguration, Canada's government bans William Ayres from entry to this country. What the heck is going on in Ottawa?
Have we capitulated so much to the Bush Security agenda? Canada has lost a great deal today. Ayres has paid the price for his crime. He is a respected member citizen in Chicago. He teaches at a University.
How many more are being denied entry. And who was the smart a-s that said this will teach those lefty folks on the eve of one of the most historic days in American history.
Its clear Canada has slipped. We have allowed George W Bush and his war machine to dictate Canadian internal affairs. I am very ticked and frustrated.
Memo to Harper, GW is gone tomorrow at noon. Check out the The John Oakley Show! Click HERE for the exclusive interview!
When's a Donut not "Freedom of Choice". Krispy Kreme goofed a little when they announced a promotion called the "Freedom of Choice" celebration on Obama's inauguration, January 20. Some crazy folks at the "No freedom for women organizations" jumped on the choice of words.
Krispy Kreme spokesperson says it has nothing to do with that "Freedom of Choice".
It just shows that there is no freedom of choice when it comes to using "Freedom of Choice."
Now to add further intrigue, Dunkin Donuts is offering a special for the inauguration with an 89 cent donut, it comes with red, white and blue star sprinkles. What do you make of their use of the Blue stars?
Was it an accident? Was it a slight? Was it taking middle road? Gay Bishop was not part of HBO's live coverage of the Obama event on Sunday. HBO contacted by Afterelton.com said they talked to HBO who informed them that they were told that the Bishop was part of the Pre-show and not the live broadcast.
"Contacted Sunday night by AfterElton.com concerning the exclusion of Robinson's prayer, HBO said via email, "The producer of the concert has said that the Presidential Inaugural Committee made the decision to keep the invocation as part of the pre-show. Uncertain as to whether or not that meant that HBO was contractually prevented from airing the pre-show, we followed up, but none of the spokespeople available Sunday night could answer that question with absolute certainty. However, it does seem that the network's position is that they had nothing to do with the decision." - Afterelton.com
That seems a little strange to me. Why did the Obama team choose to make the the invocation at Barack Obama's inauguration concert by Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson part of the pre show? There were thousands of LGBT Americans who tuned in to the HBO broadcast to witness history, to see this first ever invocation for a US President given by an openly gay minister, only to find out it had occurred before the broadcast began.
To add insult to injury, reports state that the audio during the invocation on the site was very poor meaning the bulk of the crowd that attended the event couldn't hear the Bishop's words. Sometimes things just don't right even for Barack Obama. Looking forward to an official response from the Obama team today.
Perhaps its just one of those things on the road to equality...
Julian Bond has been an outspoken friend and ally of Gays and Lesbians for years. He turns 69 years old today! According to White Crane Bond refused to attend Coretta Scott King's funeral as it was held in a Black Mega Church that was very anti-gay. He said King was a strong advocate for Gay and Lesbian rights...
"I knew her fairly well; we were neighbors for [over 20 years] when I lived in Atlanta. There was a house between us. And I knew her attitude toward Gay and Lesbian rights. And I just couldn't imagine that she'd want to be in that church with a minister who was a raving homophobe. And I couldn't see myself in my church either. Although I have a great deal of respect and affection for her, I thought that I could show a lot more by staying away. We were neighbors and her children and my children grew up together and I saw her quite a bit. I couldn't do it."
Horace Julian Bond (born January 14, 1940) is an American leader of the American Civil Rights Movement. While a student at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia during the early 1960s, he helped found the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC). He has been Chairman of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) since 1998. In November 2008, he announced that he does not plan to seek another term as chairman
