It's a Gay-O-Meter

Just how gay are you?

Kinsey's report says none of us are 100 per cent heterosexual or 100 per cent homosexual.

That means to varying degrees we all fall somewhere in between. Take the test at Channel 4. Terminal city gets the nod for pointing us to this "fabulous" online test!

The Gay-O-Meter

It's fun, me I am 79% gay according to this test. To say the least, I was shocked.

Two Fallen Angels Seeking Peter

This is a joke I received from a elist I belong too.

Now it's funny yet it has a serious side too it. It's allright in this life to advertise for god and that god advertisement prohibits many of the rest of us from doing and being who we are.

Enough of the lecture, here is the joke ...

Two prostitutes were riding around town with a sign on top of their car which said: "Two Prostitutes -- $50.00." A policeman, seeing the sign, stopped them and told them they'd either have to remove the sign or go to jail.

Just at that time, another car passed with a sign saying: "JESUS SAVES." One of the girls asked the officer, "How come you don't stop them?!" "Well, that's a little different," the officer smiled . . "Their sign pertains to religion." So the two ladies of the night frowned as they took their sign down and drove off.

The following day found the same police officer in the area when he noticed the two ladies driving around with a large sign on their car again. Figuring he had an easy arrest, he began to catch up with them when he noticed the new sign which now read: "Two Fallen Angels Seeking Peter -- $50.00."

Tylenol ad upsets James Dobson

The Christian Right is at it again folks. They have attempted to bring pressure on a large American company because of this ad that appeared in The Advocate, an American magazine for the queer community.

Focus on the Family is after Johnson & Johnson for advertising Tylenol PM to the gay market.

"A lot of corporate America has bought into the idea that they can secretly promote
homosexuality
without their consumers noticing out there,"
~ Robert Knight, director of the Culture and Family Institute.

"I think it's a critical issue, because it's one more way that the issue of homosexuality is being normalized and sent out as though it's not harmful—as though it's not against what God originally intended." ~ Mike Haley, director of the gender issues department at Focus on the Family

So all those big advertisers thought they could fool Judge James Dobson and his jury on earth. Boy were they dumb. Not much gets by these guys. Now I wonder, as we know Focus on the Family has a Canadian branch plant, do you think they sent this notice to Canadian members as well. My guess is they did.

Want to know who is advertising to the gay community. Go to the commercial closet.

TAKE ACTION: Let Johnson & Johnson know what you think, send a comment to the company! You can call too if you prefer, the number to call is: 1-800-962-5357, option 5

I did... and so did Karl at Snarl's humble blog along with a few more like Tammy Talks alot.

Republican Chicken Hawks

The Devil went down to Texas (Yanked from All Hat, No Cattle)

(Sung to the Tune of The Devil Went Down to Georgia)

The Devil went down to Texas
A favorite place for him
It has a douche like Charlie D.,
and the big old death pena'ty...

Its governor is squatting
In Wash. DC they say,
While his has-been friend old Charlie D.
Has plenty of stuff to say

Well you see old Charlie never served
In the service that he loves
But he wants your kid to get Saddam
And doesn't like no doves

When the killin' starts, old Charlie D.
Will be sittin' by the tube
Stuffin' his face and cheerin' on
Those dying for this rube

He'll write another letter

Callin' Sean Penn a traitor
But him and Shrub will never 'splain
why Saddam couldn't wait til later...

(Chorus)
Fire on the mountain run boy run
Charlie don't care if they kill your son
Stuffin' his fat face, wavin' the flag
Another chickenhawk in a big ole chair...
-JFW

So send the kids off to war, that makes Bush and song spinning friend Charlie War Pimps right?! Chicken Hawks is another word for them as well. Someone save America's youth from the perverts runing the country.

Let's send Johnny to Conversion Camp

Yes it is summer time, tens of thousands of children in North America will be attending a christian camp this summer. MSNBC's Ron Reagan has this to say in an article entitled "Conversion Camps?"

"Summer’s here, meaning thousands of kids are heading off to camp and participating in a host of familiar activities: hiking, canoeing, archery, re-programming their sexual orientation. Don’t you remember that from your summers at camp? ...

...After all, if certain people are simply born gay, it wouldn’t be fair to persecute them. So, to stave off this uncomfortable reality, they induce in vulnerable teens the same self-loathing that so obviously troubles men like Reverend Smid."

Any one know these guys?

I found them on an American Blog this morning. I lost the blog address as well, darnit! Anyway, if you know what this is about let us know here.

HIV/AIDS clinic forced to do Impact Study

Only in Surrey you say, Pity

Surrey City council has lost it this time, they do regularly, though this is just downright ludicrous.

Officials want facility to do a community impact study before moving two doors away, reports the Surrey News Leader.

"A centre for treating HIV/AIDS has hit a major roadblock in its attempt to move to a newer building two doors down from its current location in Whalley. James Bennett wants to relocate the centre to 10693 135A St., but has been told by the city he'll need to complete a "community impact study" before doing so." see the rest at the Surrey New Leader or here.

Same thought Marriage - There ought to be a law

Blogger Simon Pole says Klein could have done it differently ...

"It's a sad day for the majority of Albertans who believe in the traditional definition of marriage.. We have to obey the law of the land, and it's unfortunate that such a law would be passed." ~ Alberta Premier Ralph Klein

It is perhaps no coincidence that Klein's comments echo those made back in June by Texas Governor Rick Perry. Perry had just signed an anti-gay marriage bill into law for his state. When asked how returning gay Gulf War veterans would feel about the new law, Perry said:

"I'm going to say Texas has made a decision on marriage and if there's a state with more lenient views than Texas, then maybe that's where they should live."

Simon reminds us of the words Laurier used to describe us, "Canadianism is moderation and conciliation." And that is especially true when dealing with those who try your patience, and perhaps your patriotism.

It is easy to ride the wave of populism, to be a cheerleader and Ralph Klein rides it better than any politician. He has joined many of those in America who have entered into "Same thought marriage"

Ode to gay Marriage

Ode to C-38

Go fill up yer teacups an' all gather 'round.
I'll tell you about a fine day,
When the senators up there in Ottawa town,
Made it legal fer marryin' gay.

The debate it had raged fer more'n three years
And then they passed C-38,
Making it legal fer queers t' wed queers,
Now they don't hafta fornicate.

Holy Mother, what's next!

It wrong to do this too.

“It has been our understanding that Catholicism does not agree with our Statement of Faith,” Bethany’s state director Karen Stewart wrote. “Our practice to not accept applications from Catholics was an effort to be good stewards of an adoptive applicant’s time, money and emotional energy.”

In fact the rule that kids be put in "Christian" home is offensive.

They use government money too!

‘Choose Life’ tags for one and all Sandy Steadman said she was hurt and disappointed that Bethany received funds from the Choose Life car license plates. “I know of a lot of Catholics who get those tags,” she said. ... Of $244,000 generated by the sale of the tags in 2004, Bethany received $7,053, said Geraldine Gray, treasurer of Choose Life Mississippi, which distributes the money.

Rest assured, in Mississippi Gays can buy the Choose Life tags, and just like Catholics they are refused adoption by this agency, unlike Gays however, Catholics can go elsewhere to adopt.

Zach and others need support!

New York Times and others on Zach

This story is getting harder to take all the time. I have been the 16 year Zach is. I was 16 once and wondering about being gay. Zach appears to be stronger as he has expressed thoughts to people he thought it safe to do so, to his parents.

The issue of his Dad then deciding to send his son to a religious "concentration" camp is a betrayal of Zach's trust in them. It is no wonder many teenagers feel they can not talk to their parents. Kids that are gay or questioning their sexuality have it even worse in many cases, especially kids like Zach.

The New York Times has a good article that you can retrieve at their website here or as a pdf file here. The article covers Zach's case and the ex-gay movement.

Love in Action (LIA) is the purveyor for the "Christian" based camps that operate much like a 12 step program. Queer Action Coalition has gathered several documents from LIA on their program and posted them here.

A number of supporter blogs for Zach have sprung up. Check out "Real Love in Action", The Story so far, Ex-Gay Watch and Cherry Blossom. They have articles on Zach and homophobia and the associated harm done by some of these christian conversion techniques.

You can support Queer Action Coalition in a number of ways, make a donation, write letters, organize or join a rally or sign a petition.

You can check out the cartoon at Free Z. - the comic. Based on a real story, with real people, and real pain.

There is much to say about this case and others in the same situation. In simple terms these Christian Activists are abusing our youth, emotionally and otherwise. We need to do what we can to stem their access to our youth.

Please take time to visit anyone of the links on this page and to support the Queer Action Coalition financially or otherwise. You can also check out the website of Peterson Toscano, a surviver of the the ex-gay movement who is an articulate spokesperson and facilitater. I recently hear Peterson on Queer FM out of Vancouver BC. I was moved by his comments, experiance and the effort and talents he brings to the fight to protect youth and others, to inform the public and educate. Currently he travels North America performing his newest play "Doin' time in Homo No Mo Halfway House" and has his own blog, a musing.

One beats ten ~ Harry Potter

One good reason to read Harry Potter can be found in ten reasons from Christian Activists opposed to Harry Potter.

I will read this book at the end of the week after my company leave. I have been having trouble not picking it up to start reading it. It would however be rude to leave my guests alone that long!

Want to get back at the Christian Activist out there? Read Harry and talk to the world about it.

The books have single handedly moved a world of children to read, to use their imagination. What's next book burnings?

Zach's Dad outs him

Dad of boy in 'ex-gay' camp speaks out

Larry Buhl, PlanetOut Network Friday, July 15, 2005 / 05:34 PM

SUMMARY: The father of "Zach," a gay teen who stated on his weblog that he was sent against his will to a camp to change his sexual orientation, has come forward to defend his actions.
The father of "Zach" -- a gay teen who sparked outrage after stating on his weblog that he was sent against his will to a camp to change his sexual orientation -- has come forward to defend his actions.
In an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network, Joe Stark ended speculation about whether the 16-year old, known on his blog simply as "Zach," actually existed. The PlanetOut Network verified Zach's identity last month but did not disclose his last name or hometown to prevent unwarranted attention on the youth.

Catholic Church refuse Baptism for gays

More from the Catholic Church on same-sex marriage and gay families. Cardinal Ouellet says ...

"If I take the example of the ceremony of baptism, according to our canon law, we cannot accept the signatures of two fathers or two mothers as parents of an infant," Cardinal Ouellet told the committee. "With a law that makes these unions official, situations of this will multiply and this threatens to disturb not just the use of our territory, but also our archives and other
aspects of the life of our communities."

Exclusive Brethren ~ Anti-gay secretive religious sect

A secret group has been mailing literture condemning same-sex marriage to tens of thousands of Canadian households. The material has a post office box for a return address at a 711 store in Toronto.

The material came to light recently when Liberal MP Mark Holland complained in the House of Commons in March. Residents in his riding had received the mailout. Very little is known of the group. The Vancouver Sun has discovered more about the group in an article it published today.

The group is made up of membership in the United States, England and Canada. In 2004 it ran ads in support of George W Bush. It is not known if the mailouts in Canada are being paid for by American members or not. There is currently no restriction on this kind of political activity or financing such activity by foreigners in Canada.

Earlier this year we learned that Focus on the Family (Canada) had received in excess of one million dollars from the the American Focus on the Family religious activist group and that The American Knights of Columbus paid for 100's of thousands of post cards protesting same-sex marriage in Canada. The cards were delivered to Catholic Churchs across Canada.

You can read the Vancouver Sun article here or here...
OTTAWA -- A secretive religious sect is behind an aggressive but anonymous direct-mail and advertising campaign against gay marriage that has triggered complaints in Parliament and in the media from MPs and ordinary Canadians from B.C. to Atlantic Canada, The Vancouver Sun has learned.

Some members of the ultra-conservative Exclusive Brethren, who shun relationships with non-members and require their women to wear head scarves in public, organized and funded the campaign, a sect member confirmed Thursday.

Do all straight guys have this problem?

Straight boy? His cock is sucked too much?

Take a look at this, I DoughBot points us to the Onion for this little piece...

Do all straight guys have this problem? ...

"I've got nothing against homosexuals. Let them be free to do their gay thing in peace, I say. But when they start sucking my cock, I've got a real problem.

Then there was the time I was hiking through the woods and came across a rugged-looking, blond-haired man in his early 30s. He seemed straight enough to me while we were bathing in that mountain stream, but, before you know it, he's sucking my cock! "

MP refused communion "over a handshake"

MP refused communion "over a handshake"

Charlie Angus, MP for Timmins-James Bay voted in support of Bill C-38, the Civil Marriage Act. The vote itself did not cost him his right to communion, which is being denied him by the Priest of his parish, Father John Lemire. To date to my knowledge not one other MP has been subject to religious censure.

It appears Mr. Angus' sin was shaking the hand of out gay NDP MP Bill Siksay, Burnaby Douglas. Mr. Angus offered a handshake to Siksay after the MP finished speaking on Bill C-38 and there in lies the sin. The handshake was caught on television. The local Priest called Angus and said he would refuse communion to him, the handshake was too public.

Would Mr. Angus, who shook hands with his colleague after a speech have been better off to just wave, ignore, run in the opposite direction? Would it have been okay to hug Mr. Siksay. It was an emotional speech to make (Siksay's partner is a United Church Minister) and whether you agree or not wouldn't you be there for your colleague or a friend?

The Parish Priest won the Christian Right lottery. Nailed the first one.

Rollback OfferingTM Wal-Mart satire?

A hilarious post of note...

Part of me really wanted to believe...

Wal-mart chapels will offer something no traditional church can boast of: the Rollback OfferingTM.
"Most churches ask for 10 percent of your income," he said. "Not Wal-mart, though. With our Rollback OfferingTM , you only have to give 5 percent to God each week. Wal-mart wants to be the low priceleader in every area of your life, even those areas involving God."~ CatholicNews.org
This satire came to me by a visit to Technically Unsophisticated, who like me wants to believe,

"I seriously hope that this is some sort of joke by the author. I don't see a link to an original article.

"I guess in primarily Catholic South La., the bishop will have to assign a priest to the "Wal-Mart Chapel" . What will the chapel be called "St. Sam's", "St. Walton's", or "Our Lady of the Super Center"?"

I can see Mr. Walton's team of negotiators using their famed squeeze play on religious suppliers, wanting shorter services each year, more miracles per customer, you can take or leave it, the Buddhists have an attractive offer if you can't supply. Mr. Dobson would have to make amends with SpongeBob Square pants first, now that is a meeting I would look forward too, because you just know he would deal.

Same-sex Marriage project in Hog Town

Same-sex Marriage Project:

Are you married to a same-sex partner? Married one year or more?
Living in/near Toronto?

LGBTQ-positive researchers at York University are seeking to interview legally-married lesbians and gay men.

They would like to learn:

-What is married life like for same-sex partners?
-How are our families organized?
-How does personal and dating history connect with marriage?

Your participation will help them to understand these issues and prepare for a future national study of the lives and experiences of people married to their same-sex partner. Your stories matter.

Free Zach

Some young people have decided to help Zach and other youth facing the abuse handed young queer and different youth by Love in Action and the Christian Right. To find out what you can do check out Free Zach!

"I can't take this... noone can... not really, this kind of thing tears you apart emotionally. To introduce THIS subject... I'm not a suicidal person... really I'm not.. I think it's stupid - really. But.. I can't help it, no im not going to commit suicide, all I can think about is killing my mother and myself. It's so horrible. This is what it's doing to me... I have this horrible feeling all of the time... I wish this on no person... I'm so satisfied--happy's too strong of a word the state I'm in-- that everyone's taking the time to email and write letters in complaint to these people. I dont know if it will do anything, but if something did happen it would be -- awesome." - Zach, from his blog;

Normal-sized penis is 1.6 inches

Penis size, men wonder, worry, brag, boast, but mostly hide...

Likely most men have wondered if they measure up. Thanks to a Dr. Rany Shamloul, a researcher from Saskatoon's University of Saskatchewan, one can be reassured...
"Men should know that a normal-sized penis is 1.6 inches or more when flaccid or 2.76 inches when stretched out." ~ Dr. Rany Shamloul said in an interview with Fox News after completing study.

Perhaps its like one of my mother's jokes, "What's six inches to a man?" See Study: Men May Over estimate Normal Penis Size at WebMD.

Chances are the guy you think is hot is the same size as you too!
